Anti Union Meeting

There was a anti union meeting held on June 27th 2012 at our Anaheim service center. The meeting was given by Frank Valentine, Terminal Manager and Nathan King of Human Resource. It was a lack luster meeting with most of the employees in attendance saying that these managers do not know what they are talking about, when it comes to talking about what the Teamsters are all about.

But Thank You Frank and Nathan for letting us all know that FedEx is running scared!

THE TIME TO ORGANIZE IS NOW! BE WISE AND ORGANIZE!

RUDY HERNANDEZ

P.S.
Thank You all, who have filled out our sign up sheet this week.

Correction. It was Nathan Gibson from H.R.

Message to Nathan Gibson, you're exactly what a union buster is, you nestle yourself in a corner, and you make Frank Valentin do your dirty work, your a topical coward to address to employees anti-union propaganda!
Message to the Membership by James R Hoffa... "Too often , the younger generation of workers forgets the bitter hardships and struggles of those who went before them to build the conditions they enjoy today...As you gather in warm homes and exchange gifts and holiday greetings, remember that the American worker did not always have these good things of life. And it is time, too, to wonder why there are still men in powerful positions in life who would take away these things from us if they could."

Well said Joe, those selfish hypocrite busters wants to enjoy all the workrigths that other fought and die for all of us.anti-union, anti-American fascism don’t want us to exercise our workright.like those FedEx thugs at mire Loma, a whole bunch of supervisors had to go on the dock to confront you or intimidate you, shows the kind of coward mark link and his management thugs are.damn Nazis.

This was at our Orange terminal. And later in the week we had a visit from our regional manager John Hinkley asking us what can they do to make things better. The TM doesn't do anything and central dispatch always screws us linedrivers on our runs.

This was at are Orange hub... Trust me I was there...lol .... And it was a joke and it was true .... Go Teamsters!!!!!!!952. Sal

what is so funny about these meetings? All i hear is how ridiculous FedEx is but I have yet to hear why we should sign union cards. Any good facts for us drivers who dont see why we should go union?

Turk 187 said...

@ FTA driver, here ya go:

how about medical/dental/vision coverage at a third of the cost that what you're paying now.

how about a pension that is 3-4 times greater than the one that is currently offered by Fedex.

FedEx mgmt likes to point out union companies (i.e. YRC) that aren't as fiscally strong as others, but what they don't tell you is: the union does NOT make business decisions for the company (i.e. tariffs, discounts, equipment purchases etc), they are merely OUR business agent. Much like when the Oakland Raiders decide to raise ticket prices or concession prices, the agent for Darren McFadden has NOTHING to do with that decision, but is solely responsible for the deal that McFadden receives.

how about the fact that UPS freight (one of our direct competitors) city drivers currently makes $26.00 p/hr and is projecting to go over $30 by their next contract!! Kinda makes that paltry raise we just got look like an insult.

But most importantly, how about a voice at the bargaining table with Fred Smith, a voice where we can collectively tell him what we would like, rather than being told what we are going to get.

Hope this helps.
I want a contract!!

Well said Turk! Let me tell you readers. This comes from an employee who has educated and asked question about what a union is about and what is possible with a CBA , Collective Bargaining Agreement.

With employees like Turk. We will get Fed ex Freight organize!

At FTA driver ... We do need a contract so all and every dock and driver be at the same pay scale...that a good reason Irvine gets $ 25 an hr.. what about us. ONG driver

FRANKIE V, is it true you are also buying Burritos too, after an anti-union meeting?
Well shit, come on down to Whittier FRANKIE and buy us burritos too, because Andy ain't buying us no more burritos after his anti-union meeting.
Is this what Nathan Gibson forces you guys to do?

Joe Nuno said...

Turk, great point of view on why we need a union, you nail it brother.
All the employees of FedEx needs a C.B.A, why? Because it's the only thing that will save you from this ridiculous Snapshot compliance system.
Snapshot is really a system to fail, for cleaning house, to get rid of the old Viking employee.
No matter how much you adjust and comply with Snapshot, Harrison will change another Snapshot rule, just to make it difficult for all employees, it will never end.
I"ve just got to say, thanks Russ Fleck, Mike Zonolli, Steve Atkins ( now look where you are now ) John Hinkley and all the San Jose Team like Tom Suchavich who also was booted out of here.
Thanks for selling us out, you all sold us out for Greed, just think for a second, when we were just plain Viking, we all got along like family members with pride and joy.
There was no need for forming a union, I myself use to look at Russ Fleck as my mentor when he was an O.M, but when FedEx Corporate took over and let Harrison ( American Freightways ) be the leaders, I saw the writing in the wall, it was time to organize and form our union.

Anonymous, why would we want all employees to get paid the same? I am a driver and have far more training and should get paid more than a dock worker for what I do. your comments simply dont make sense which is why we have yet to organize. we have simply been spinning our wheels forteh past 10 years and watched all of eth changes being made while we sit around.

Anonymous said...

Turk, so are you saying if we sign then we too are guaranteed to make $30 per hour? I dont think so brother.

hello my name is erick,
i am a UPS employee and let me tell you dont budge to any of the supervisors tricks of buying you crap.... union is the way to go the only bad side is for new hires ( the seniority ) other then that your union due is once a month ( times 2.5 for full time and 2 for part time from your hourly rate ex. if you make 10$ an hour you will pay 20$ for p/t and 25 for full time thats it) you get benefits, teamster pension 401(k) access, job security, collective bargaining, and a shop steward who will protect you from any abuse you feel the supervisor has done or has violated the contract ( grievance report ).... other than that its badass to be a teamster...dont budge fedex GO UNION......LIVE BETTER WORK UNION.... dont be intimidated by your management the workers are the ones who make the company move forward.... be strong there is no bad part to being a teamster you cannot be fired for any little reason thats where the union protects be strong fedex also raises to your pay...

the only reason fedex drivers make comparible wages is,unions set the industry pay standards period. No unions no wages this company is makeing money hand over foot on this economey freight.i work at CGT line haul runs city work to cut overtime.the following turns pay mileage from CGT.kanakee 30 miles.summit 27 miles, schamburg 42 miles.whats next peice work pay for the freight you handle.City drivers get kicked to the road side while road driver extra board sit at home bottom line no one is makeing any money my bonous is comeing end of month 4% of my gross wages thats 45,000 WOW! Part time dock workers the future of this hub.personal days cant be used even advance notice whats the point of haveing them.Management thinks they have the upper arm on everything. There are three times as many employees as management.A little unity with all who work here and fedex freight will be union.Purchase van drivers the new fedex work force.Wake up people corporate america wants us back at the bottom like slaves. We are just getting by why they get filthy rich we deserve our share their wealth is made on our backs.Wake up america.

At FTA driver... Irvine is making more then any other HUB!!!!! In CA!!!! I'm talking about been far in pay and same across the the state of CA... Exmpl.... If you been working for Fedex freight 10 yers and came in the same time and started the same time and do the same thing p and d what's the diff from ftn sbo ONG !!!! $ 25 am hr is what Irvine drivers are making and good for them.....that will start the bar on are contract with the teamsters!!!!!!

Gonzo said...

I think Joe is Right on the money, because when Viking was sending Viking personnel to Spartan, Cole Express and Central Frt, Viking was was telling all those carriers how it was going to be run whether they like it or not.
And when the merger of all those Frt companies mentioned here failed, they shut those Frt companies down, and all those workers were'd out of a job.
That's when American Freightways gained all the business Viking failed, and hired all those workers from all the carriers mentioned above.
Now look at the big picture here, American Freightways runs all corporate for FedEx, who are all those in American Freightways, all those management who were'd out of a job because of Viking failure system.
Payback is a Bitch, now Harrison has created a failure system just for the old school employees, it's call Snapshot, a system to fail for the west, Right on Joe Nuno!!!
Ask the first batch of line driver from the west ( Viking ) who attended Harrison Arkansas 1st meeting, they were'd told no more fucking word of Viking Freight Systems, anyone mentioned any more of Viking, he would fired them on the spot.

Joe Nuno said...

Anonymous do you know how to read and digest information into your mind?
Turk didn't said you were guaranteed to make $30.
He said if we form our union, we would be able to negotiate our contract just like UPS Frt, negotiate a progressive pay increase per year until we reach our negotiated 3, 4 or 5 year contract, then we negotiate another better contract.
Nothing is guaranteed until contract is voted among the members of the future Teamsters FedEx employees.
Think before you bark...

Turk 187 said...

Yeah Anonymous, what Joe Nuno just said!!

You're "spin" on my post is exactly the kind of red-shirt rhetoric that mgmt tries to feed us.

Your conjecture aside, the $30 p/hr was just an example of the benefits of a contract. Rather than dangling in the wind every year about whether we're going to be "blessed" with a raise, a contract would guarantee us a raise beforehand.

I WANT A CONTRACT!!!

FTA Driver said...

Hey I have a question for you "watch dogs", if the Union is soo great, why the hell is it taking you guys so many years to get your shit together? Did you ever stop to think you guys are the clear minority at FedEx Freight?
What a genius thought right? Instead of trying to ruin a great company why dont you put all this energy into getting an education and applying at another company?
Get lost, your fellow drivers dont want you here anymore!

Joe Nuno said...

I know all you brothers and sisters of FedEx will benefit a Collective Bargaining Agreement contract, I won't because I am not an employee of FedEx anymore.
But I will be at the round table to negotiate that contract with some of the employees of FedEx and the Teamsters , that's a promise!!
And there will be a lot of Happy Drivers.

Why don't you work no more at FedEx Joe nuno? I am a fedex freight driver in L.A. I want to get this thing going. But can management fire me like nothing if someone rats me out?

Today at ONG we had a anti union meeting once more...Nat Gibson was there and some Hr guy from TX named Rob Lench. A true actor, some emotional faces from him went off and he even glassy eye trying to cry and say " look guys I've been on the union side and I have noting good to say""" about them. He told us even if the union wad to come in at Fedex that we will just pay more union dues for the same pay and that union has no right to tell Fedex if we are going to get a pay raise. Is that why UPS freight is going to make more then us...a true act and a fake ..... Don't fall for this guy if you see him at your hub..we went if by asking more things that will change at Fedex if we did not vote union and his response was " well guys I don't have that answer with me now" that's right!!!!! You don't and will never do!!! We need to vote and have a true voice and go union!!!! Union is power for the dock workers line drivers and city drivers.... Teamsters rule 952!!!!! Never trust a red shirt!!!!!! From us the drivers at ONG city ......

I am fucking glad that finally everybody is opening their eyes and seeing the truth, FedEx management doesn't want you to have a contract.
All they fucking want from us, is us from the neck down, don't think, don't have a voice and don't ask why.

A driver at SLG got in trouble for doing 3 minutes of overtime. How funny is that? We need a union brothers! Go teamsters!

what happens if say we dogo union and the company wns the yard and shut down the terminal. lets say they told us we dont need our yard anymore. will the union find us jobs? because in my are there are 3 yards near by.

irudedog said...

If FedEx would want to close a terminal and we had a contract with the language of seniority rights. Than we could move into other FedEx yards according to seniority. As for now if FedEx would close a terminal now. They don’t have to let you move to other terminals. You’re an “at will” employee.
I heard that when FedEx acquired Watkins the owner operators had to reapply. So drivers who drove for Watkins as owner operator for years started as new employees from day one.
I’m sure the union would do whatever they could do to help misplaced employees find work. That’s why its important companies in our industry were unionized so if this would happen you would have more options to get another union job to continue investing towards your Teamster pension.

Anonymous said...

Explain what happen at conway east coast. They were union they went on strike the yards shut down rehired non union drivers. Most of the drivers didn't know why they were on strike. The people that was holding signs and picketing weren't even drivers. That's how they get rid of unions. What if fedex don't sign a contract? Personally I don't like paying out more money than I already have to.

irudedog said...

As far as what I have been told, Conway has never been a union company. I heard that they bought this company which was unionized and Conway did close that yard. What I can only guess is since no other part of Conway at that time were union, there was no leverage at other yards to force Conway to negotiate with the union so they must have shut them out!

That's why "The Employee Free Act" was a very important bill that had to be passed. It's not about "card check" which FedEx, Conway and other non union company's were so against. It would have forced these companies to negotiate a contract in 6 months! If not it would go to arbitration, and the company would HAVE to give the employee a fair contract!

Anonymous said...

We have nothing to lose! Let's go union! We already work as prisoners under surveillance. I don't think a union would make it worse. Plz FedEx brothers and sisters get educated on forming a union. It's what's best for us. Go teamsters!
