FedEx Ground Drivers Win Group Status in Eight States (Update1)

By Laurence Viele Davidson

July 28 (Bloomberg) -- FedEx Corp. must face more state class-action lawsuits by contract drivers who claim they deserve benefits because the company treats them as full-time workers by mandating their clothing, hours and prices, a judge said.

U.S. District Judge Robert Miller in South Bend, Indiana, yesterday granted drivers’ request to sue as groups on behalf of workers in Arizona, Georgia, Ohio, Utah, Louisiana, Nevada, North Carolina and Oregon. In the same ruling, Miller denied similar requests by drivers in Colorado, Connecticut and Vermont as well as claims that some of the lawsuits should cover all such FedEx drivers in the U.S.

We at FEDEX FREIGHT should file a classaction law suit for age discrimination,For not paying delay time overtime for those shuttlers drivers that work 12 hours shift they are using swift us express and others carriers to move our freight it's time to wake up and form a union now we should hire a good lawyer and sue just like FEDEX GROUND now they are getting RESPECT AND DIGNITY by suing this jerks lets stop the abuse at fedex freight too im prety sure we got a good case just remember what ROSS FLECK did to ELIAS OROSCO he discriminate him for being old worker and hispanic now this managers are playing race with our workers SHAME ON YOU FEDEX MANAGEMENT also Jesse Lopez Tito Ayala Jose Garcia and Victor Caballero all hispanics workers without jobs we need to have a contract if you go to union company they don't discriminate on any race WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS becouse when you become a teamster member you have protection by having a contract agreement.A GARDENA P&D SHUTTLER DRIVER AND LINE DRIVER wil see you sunday meeting.THE GARDENA UNION ORGANIZERS GOD BLESS THE TEAMSTERS.

Just posted this on Ltlboards in response to a mistake I made.
Ok,ok,I was mistaken as to which union the Fedex pilots were members of or affiliated with.I stand corrected and appreciate everyone who pointed out my mistake.
Yet,the importat point goes unaddressed. That is the fact that the pilots have a CONTRACT with Fred Smith that absolutely prohibits him from treating them ARBITRARILY or by whatever current whim he entertains to take away their hard earned rights, benefits, dignity and respect. All,no doubt, designed to enrich himself at their expense.
I make no mistake about this though-without a Teamsters contract what Fred Smith cannot do to the pilots he will-and does-do to you;and, without fear of any consequences for his actions.
So,while I appreciate the pointing out of errors made by me,I would appreciate more the effort also being employed to secure a Teamsters contract so that we-like the pilots-are protected.
As to the problems-if any- with the pilots pension, I would rather have a Teamsters contract with problems than no contract with all its ramifications.
Save me the usual retorts of:The economy dictates this;if you don't like it here go...;and other pointless replies.

Did you recive your defined benefit from the old Viking slash Fedex co. For my 20 years I will recive appx 522.00 a month, now that's what I call getting screwed. My friends that worked for Unions at C.F., Yellow, and Abf are getting appx 1000, to 1245 dollars a month. One is also getting appx 1375 and we thought we were all doing just a few dollars less then these fellow drivers in the Union's. The new pp plan won't do us any good unless were here another 20 years. I'M geeting some of my monney back by signing up for the Teamsters a.s.a.p.

I SEEN THE NEW EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK WE SIGNED FOR MENTIONED 10 BREAKS, JURY DUTY WAS CHANGED AND FOR THE LINE DRIVER THAT WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THAT "AT WILL EMPLOYMENT" FEDEX MAY BE SENDING EVERYONE A MESSAGE BECAUSE THE "AT WILL EMPLOYMENT" IS MENTIONED MORE THAN ONCE, IN FACT HOW ABOUT 4 TIMES, THAT'S RIGHT. IT WAS MENTIONED 4 TIMES, OVERKILL MAYBE OR A MESSAGE. WITHOUT PROTECTION FROM A UNION CONTRACT AND THE RIGHT TO FAIR TREATMENT WE ALL SHOULD BE WORRIED.

LEAD, FOLLOW OR JUST GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY!!!
You have no guarantee agreement with FedEx!!! All of you have heard the Mile Marker C.D. You all need a Collective Bargaining Agreement, just look around you guys, our brothers and sisters of linehaul and our dockworkers are losing out on their wages and benefits. Linehaul is losing their work to paid transportation, according to Jr. Rios in Devore is cheaper to hired outside carriers, and is cheaper to eliminate full time dockhand and use our linehaul to do the job if they want to make ends meet, you call this fair? fuck no it ain't fair!! we need a Collective Bargaining Agreement so we can have Job Classification, let's stop the bitchin and do something, regained your Hope, Respect and Dignity.

Re:Did you receive;Evidently,my pension is out of the old Viking program.
At the meeting in Orange this past Sunday I shared my $1238.19 net check information with everyone there to point out,on top of everything else, what you have to look forward to.
This didn't/doesn't take into account the $45.00 a month I would have received from the FREDEX plan.Took a lump sum on it.Net check was about $4500.00.
I also have the opportunity to provide my own medical.
A retired Teamster was there also;he shared his retirement information with us.$4000.00+ a month plus medical.
Do the math.Get a Teamsters contract.
Can't say you haven't been warned.
Mr.Duncan,Mike Z,J.Hinkley,Russ Fleck,Cabbage Patch,Leeh(Who ever you are)PLEASE RESPOND.
