FedEx Insurance Costs Going Up And Coverage Going Down

Dear Fellow FedEx Express Coworker:

We find ourselves once again faced with "open enrollment" time at FedEx Express for our insurance coverage.

Some of you might have received your packets from the company in the mail, heard what is being forced upon us at a benefits meeting or have just heard rumors of what news this year's October Surprise will bring.

It appears once again we are being given the opportunity to "pay more for less." Our costs will be going up and our coverage is diminishing. Depending on what plan you opt for and what insurances you sign on to, deductions from our paychecks will apparently go up yet again.

This is a frightening trend that has to stop.

Please find the attached flier which provides us with a more in-depth analysis of this FedEx Express insurance phenomenon...cost goes up and coverage goes down...there is no doubt that our benefits are being drained from us. There is little doubt that our company keeps passing more of the cost of our insurance off onto us. How can we stop it?

This trend leads us to only one conclusion: Until the work force at FedEx Express has a say in the insurance phenomenon, we will continue to pay more for less.

This leaves us only one solution: Form a union with the Teamsters and solidify our benefit costs and coverage in a written agreement that cannot be changed without our approval.

Help us distribute the attached two-sided flier to our FedEx Express coworkers throughout the nation. We ask that you take part in this nationwide action by talking to your coworkersabout this costly and unfair insurance trend and say "Stop the Benefit Bleed" at FedEx Express. We ask that you help to put FedEx Express on notice that the trend of "pay more and get less" is not acceptable.

Don't let another October pass you by without a say in our insurance coverage and cost. Distribute the attached flier to our coworkers and help us pass our legislation.

Our legislation, the Express Carrier Employee Protection Act, will properly classify the employees of FedEx Express under the appropriate labor laws and will help to return our true rights of Freedom of Association.

Sign and return a Support Express Carrier Employee Protection Card today. Cards are available on our website www.FedxMx.com, or from an organizer. Your signed cards will be hand delivered to Senate offices showing your support for passage of our legislation.

"Stop the Benefit Bleed."

Fraternally,
Your Organizing Committee for Change at FedEx Express

where you at the orange meeting sunday, it's growing larger but we still need your support and everyone who cares about his or her benefits and job as well as seniority should be there to voice their opinion. otherwise were going to drag this thing out into 2010. Stand up be counted and vote yes for the Teamsters.

Well, I rarely agree with anything on this site, however this does have "some" merit. While we don't need to organize (I'll fight that everytime), I have to believe that if all of FedEx corp would solicit for a single insurance plan in the US we would get better coverage for a better price, but what do I know.

THE LAST COMET, SO YOUR OK WITH EMPLOYEES TAHT HAVE BEEN HERE 1 YEAR OR 18 MONTHS WORKING 7 HRS, WHILE YOU GET 5 HRS AND NO BENEFITS. SO YOUR 5 YEARS OR 15 YEARS OF EMPLOYMENT MEAN NOTHING IN THE WAY OF SENIORITY. YOUR EITHER A RED SHIRT WANABEE, OR MAYBE YOU WORK IN A YARD THAT HAS 12 EMPLOYEES AND EVERYONE WORKS THE SAME. IF YOU HAVE 75 DOCK WORKERS OR DRIVERS AND YOUR GETTING YOUR HOURS CUT ALONG WITH BENEFITS WHILE THE NEW EMPLOYEES ARE GETTING ALL THE LOVE, $$$ YOU WOULD BE PISSED TOO. TEAMSTERS ARE HERE. IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE TEAMSTERS YOU CAN LEAVE NOW BUT WERE STAYING TILL THE DOORS CLOSE.

Everyone has a right to their opinion and I'm ok with that. but I do agree with the employees here that we need a union now more than ever. Under viking, employees were treated fair under those standards back in the 80's and 90's today it's not the same. Most of the high end folks like sales, operations managers and t-m's are highly compensated. Of course ceo's are top dogs here. If they continue to take take take and they will the only thing left will be part timers and newbe's, that's what they seem to want. No more benefits for anyone if they have there way. If your making 75.000 grand a year plus who cares. but most of us hard working stiffs make about 40.000 a year if were lucky. So we need the union to bring us back in line with the cost of living and in California that's about 28.00 to 31.00 an hour with a union contract guarrenteed in writing with 8 hours guarrenteed every day. Now if they want to work part timers and newbe's and send us home were getting 8 hours guarrenteed. Some pilots are making 200.00 an hour. were asking for 31.00 it's time fedx paid and treated people like people. Im for the teamsters and passing the word every night.

Picture this.Twenty-five to 30 years in the future.Your grandkids come to visit you in your rented room. They're shocked at your living conditions;space heater for warmth, hot plate for cooking your meals and a ice chest for a refrigerator. The bright spot in the room is all the safety,"ATTA BOYS",hanging on the wall,of which you are very proud.
Your wife left you years earlier, partly because you,as she stated to the judge," couldn't provide for her adequately".
One of the grandkids remarks,"I thought grandpa worked for that Fedex Freight company, what's he doing living like this?"He should have a good pension and retirement benefits; that company does quite well, the grandkids continues to say.
Another grandkid replies that yes the company DOES do well but it's not shared with the employees. It all stays up top with the corporate-so called- leaders. And,thats why grandpa must now live in near squalor after dedicating his life to the success of the company.
"Boy, thats some kind of payback, isn't it?"
"Yeah,tragic in so many ways."
The grandkids go back and forth this way for a respectable amount of time then excuse themselves;pretending to have errands to run they leave you to your afternoon reruns on tv.Thats all you have now.
Outside the grandkids wonder how you could have allowed yourself to get into this predicament.
Then one of them remarks that they are certainly glad they're in the Teamsters Union so they don't wind up like grandpa.
A fictitious scenero, true.Yet for many it will be real life unless they act to change the conditions now and for the future.
Your decision.
